ALMSGIVING

Around the world, an estimated 2 billion people lack access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food.

Our Almsgiving Campaign has already made an effort to change that, one step at a time. Here’s what we’ve already achieved:

1,500

Families supported

540,000

Meals served

9

Villages

Oceans are made from drops

In 2020, the Almsgiving Campaign successfully distributed nutritious food kits to 1,000 disadvantaged families in the villages of Doddaharave, Alanahalli, Guddenahalli, Handigudda, Bylakuppe and Laxmipura in Karnataka state, India.

During the second wave of COVID-19 in India in 2021 we helped out by supplying medical equipment, masks and financial aid. Nevertheless, the Almsgiving Campaign continued providing 500 rural Indian families in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Karnataka with complete, nutritious and culturally adapted food kits covering three meals per day for a family of four.

From charity to empowerment

But could we do even better? From hereon, we built on the success of the Almsgivng Campaign, and with the goal of creating a more sustainable solution, the Almsgiving Pilot Project laid down the plans for a new phase, one of long-term solidarity with refugees and the underprivileged. Empowerise was born.
